SAVVY

A Jam Collective Without Limits

When SAVVY appeared in the Shenandoah music scene in 2022, they brought with them a revitalized live performance that the post-Covid world was eager for. The group had met through jam sessions held during that troublesome time, and fanned the collective enthusiasm for explorative music, eclectic tastes, and energetic freedom they’ve come to be known for.

The core members of SAVVY consist of Andrew Claassen (Guitar), Jon Fuller (Percussion), and Sean Spencer (Bass). Though they often have a revolving door of featured musicians, these three form the core of the group. Together, they muse through an identifiable catalog of original music and covers, as well as deep cuts from the musical masters who inspire them. From Jazz to Blues, Rock to Soul, or Funk to Psychedelia, the three musicians co-captain a sporadic flight through the vast array of music that inspires them, and bring their audience along for the ride.

Experience a new night, every night, with the musical stylings of SAVVY, and become a part of the quickest growing jam experiment this side of the valley.

ANDREW CLAASSAN

Andrew has had a deep fascination with music since he was a child. This led him to pick up the guitar and start exploring how frequencies can elicit or express a thought, feeling, or emotion. He studied classical and jazz guitar along with music theory and composition in college. He is now working on synthesizing knowledge and understanding into expressive, interesting playing that is authentic to the moment and responsive to collaborators.

SEAN SPENCER

Sean is a multi-instrumentalist, specializing in production and bass guitar. He dove into the world of music at a young age, and found a deep passion for composition and music theory during his time in high school and college. His drive and desire to be a part of every project he can get his hands on has lead him across a career than spans large portions of the East Coast and many genres. His past and current projects include Blue Hour (shenandoah jam band), Azure Wolf (indie rock), Reel Talk (Neo 80s Indie revival), Chaperones (indie electronica), Kojomojo (Harrisonburg funk), Groove Exchange (Harrisonburg blues/psych), Mr Grizzly (Winchester based Progressive Metal/Jazz Fusion), Hello Journal (dance/EDM), and many more projects as he can find them.

JON FULLER

Jon is a Master in Deep Water Kung Fu, speaks 6 different ancient dialects, and talks to his cats like they are children. He meets 2/3 criteria to be the Anti Christ. Once punched a hole through a cow to see who was driving up the road. Will, in moments of anger or panic, iron his shirts while wearing them. If he weren't a drummer, he'd be a professional kazoo player.
